We are responsible for Mourinho's sack_ Matic

Manchester United midfielder, Nemanja Matic has blamed his fellow team-mates for the sack of manager, Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho was dismissed by United last week Tuesday following the club’s poor form this season.
The Portuguese gaffer was replaced by former Red Devils player, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
But reacting to the sack of Mourinho, Matic stated that United players were responsible.
Asked whether his team-mates should take responsibility for Jose Mourinho’s sack, Matic was quoted by FourFourTwo as saying: “Of course.
“I said this also after the Liverpool game, that we have to take responsibility and do our best to play better and to win games.
“I don’t know [what changed at Cardiff]. This is the question no-one has an answer to but we are sure this is the way to continue, to fight and we will try to do it.
“This is football. In football this happens. We know also it’s not only the manager’s fault when the results are not good.
“But this is football and we have to carry on, to fight for the club.”
Man United will face Huddersfield Town on Wednesday in the Premier League fixture.

Nobody can take away all the things he won-Klopp emotional about Mourinho

The Liverpool boss pointed to the titles that the Portuguese has won during his managerial career and says the last few months must have been tough. Jurgen Klopp believes Jose Mourinho remains an "outstanding manager" and saluted the titles he's won in football following his sacking as Manchester United boss. The Portuguese paid for United's woeful start to the 2018-19 campaign, with the club releasing a statement on Tuesday morning to confirm that he had left. Indeed, United are currently sixth in the Premier League table, 19 points behind leaders Liverpool, and have their worst points tally in England's top flight since 1990-91. And Klopp, who guided his side to a 3-1 win over United in what was Mourinho's final game in charge, was sympathetic when asked for his reaction to the news. "He's a very competitive guy, very ambitious, unbelievably successful and I can imagine the last few months were not a joy, especially for him," he told re...

Cardiff 0 Spurs 3: Kane creates record with goal against Cardiff

The England captain continued his remarkable run of form to kick off 2019 just as he defined 2018 for club and country. It seems Harry Kane just can’t stop scoring right now, as the Tottenham Hotspur striker fired another goal in against Cardiff City on New Year’s Day to write a little bit of history. By opening the scoring against the Bluebirds, the England captain not only started 2019 as he ended 2018, but added another club to the list of Premier League sides he has found the net against. In fact, Kane’s effort against Neil Warnock’s side now means he has scored against all top-flight opposition he has played against. The 25-year-old, who was awarded an MBE in the New Year’s Honours list following his contributions to the national side at the World Cup in Russia last year, also equalled the record for the most Premier League goals scored on January 1. His early strike took him up to a tally of five, drawing him level with fellow leaders Andy Cole and Steven Gerrard. His e...

Manchester United have a future without me_Mourinho finally breaks silence after sack

Jose Mourinho has broken his silence after being sacked by Manchester United, insisting he will be back in football and refused to blame anybody for his failure. The Portuguese’s time at Old Trafford was cut short after two and a half years, despite penning a new contract in January. Mourinho, 55, splashed out close to £400m on 11 players during his time at the club, but results and the style of play were deemed unsatisfactory. A day after he was sacked the former United boss issued a statement which read: "I have been immensely proud to wear the badge of Manchester United since the first day I arrived, and I believe all United supporters recognise this. "Just as was the case with my previous clubs, I have worked with some wonderful people and I believe that some will be my friends for life. "I know that you are all aware of my professional principles. Each time a chapter is closed I show my deepest respect and I don't make any comments about my former coll...

Man City back to winning ways but still behind Liverpool

Pep Guardiola's side were much improved as they bounced back from consecutive defeats at Southampton, but they must do more ahead of Thursday's clash. The reports of Manchester City's demise are greatly exaggerated. Sure, Pep Guardiola's side were not quite at their brilliant best as they beat Southampton, but they showed more than enough to prove that there is plenty of life in them yet. Whether they have enough to win the Premier League title this season is another matter, however, and depends as much on Liverpool as it does City. And with the two sides set to face each other on Thursday night in what could be a pivotal match in the season, we are soon to learn exactly how well City have recovered from their two bruising defeats over Christmas. Compared to the performances against Crystal Palace and Leicester City, this was much, much better. In those defeats City looked starved of creativity in attack (by their high standards, anyway) and brittle at the back....

Palace 0 Chelsea 1: Kante scores a 3 point goal

Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante is enjoying his most prolific season in a blue shirt and scored a fine winner against Crystal Palace. N'Golo Kante scored his third goal of the season to earn Chelsea a deserved 1-0 win at Crystal Palace that moves the Blues five points clear of fifth-placed Arsenal. David Luiz provided a rare assist from open play to allow Kante an opportunity that he pounced upon before scoring a goal that trebles his previous best tally in a Premier League season. Palace went into the game seeking to extend a three-match unbeaten streak that included a famous win over Manchester City before Christmas, but they struggled to prise the ball away from a Chelsea side determined to avoid a repeat of their Selhurst Park defeat last season. The result left Roy Hodgson's men just five points clear of the relegation zone, while fourth-placed Chelsea pulled away from Arsenal, who lost heavily at Liverpool on Saturday. Antonio Rudiger headed tamely into t...

Morata, loosing hope or regaining hope?

Restored to the starting line-up for Wednesday's game at Stamford Bridge, the Spanish striker drew another blank to cast further doubt on his future It's hard not to feel sympathy for Alvaro Morata. He is immensely talented and is trying so hard to make a success of his Chelsea career but it is just not happening for him, with Wednesday night's stalemate with Southampton just the latest in a long line of frustrating outings for the Spanish striker. It is now 18 months since he joined the Blues from Real Madrid for £58 million (plus add-ons) and he is running out of chances to prove his worth. As ever with Morata, there were positive moments against Southampton, with a delightful dribble in the 17th minute probably the highlight. But despite going close on numerous occasions, he failed to score and it was clear long before the end of this dour 0-0 draw that the fans' patience is wearing thin. It's not that he played badly. He even managed to stick the ball in...

Mourinho to pocket 7.7Billion naira as compensation

A new caretaker manager will be appointed until the end of the current season, while the club conducts a thorough recruitment process for a new manager, the statement said. Jose Mourinho's turbulent two-and-a-half-year tenure at Manchester United has come to an end after what has been the club's worst-ever start to a Premier League season. The announcement was made by the club in a short statement that thanked the former Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan, and Real Madrid manager for his work and confirmed that a caretaker manager would be put in charge until the end of the 2018/19 season. The 65-word statement read, "Manchester United announces that manager Jose Mourinho has left the club with immediate effect. The club would like to thank Jose for his work during his time at Manchester United and to wish him success in the future. A new caretaker manager will be appointed until the end of the current season, while the club conducts a thorough recruitment process for a new, f...

Liverpool 5 Arsenal 1: Liverpool handles Arsenal with an iron hand as Fermino scores hat-trick

Liverpool thrashed Arsenal at Anfield on Saturday, as Roberto Firmino scored his first Premier League hat-trick. Roberto Firmino was at his ruthless best as he scored his first Premier League hat-trick to inspire a 5-1 demolition of Arsenal at Anfield and put Liverpool nine points clear at the summit after Tottenham's defeat to Wolves. The visit of Unai Emery's men was seen as a potentially troublesome fixture, but the Reds made light work of them, with all of their revered front three finding the net in a devastating performance. A chaotic five-minute spell in the first half saw Ainsley Maitland-Niles put Arsenal ahead, before a quickfire Firmino brace turned the score around. Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah ensured a rampant Liverpool went into the break 4-1 up. Liverpool's pressure did not subside after half-time and Firmino completed his treble from the spot 25 minutes from time, rounding off a miserable day for the Gunners and increasing the heat on Manchester Cit...

Manchester United appoints a caretaker coach

Manchester United has appointed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the caretaker manager until the end of the 2018/19 season. In a tweet on its verified Twitter handle, the football club said, Solskjaer would be joined by Mike Phelan as the first-team coach, together with Michael Carrick and Kieran McKenna. In a statement released by the club on, Solskjær scored 126 goals in 366 appearances for United between 1996 and 2007. In 2008, he became the club’s reserve-team manager, before taking the managerial role at FC Molde in Norway. Man U revealed that Solskjær would be in charge of the first team with immediate effect and will remain in place while the club conducts a thorough recruitment process for a new full-time manager. “Manchester United is in my heart and it’s brilliant to be coming back in this role. I’m really looking forward to working with the very talented squad we have, the staff and everyone at the club,” said Solskjær. Ed Woodward, Man U’s Executive Vi...

The announcement of the Portuguese coach's sacking came as a shock on Tuesday morning, two days after his side suffered a 3-1 defeat to Liverpool. After 17 games, his side are 19 points behind Jurgen Klopp's league leaders and their fight for a place in the Premier League's top four is falling apart.
